Do we have a one term President?

If you would have asked me a few months ago, I would have said no.
If you ask me now, i am not too sure.
Do i dislike his foreign policy?
nope
Do i dislike his economic policy?
not really
I have a beef with healthcare... It is a oft beat equine these days but the more i follow the coverage of the bill ready to be presented, the more I see that this is a nail in the coffin for the Democrats and this President.
Why?
He wants a bill, any bill, something to sign, so we can "work out the kinks later, it is like using the peg-leg spare tire on your car to limp home and fix the expensive rim later.
This would be great, but with the amount of time it is taking to get this one bill through, when does he think he will get the other parts changed? by 2010 we will have mid term elections, and, at that point, the majoirty the Democrats have effectivly squandered over the past couple of years will be gone and there iwll no longer be a majority enough to pass anything, maybe no majoiryt at all, then, all the plans Obama has in store for ammending the quick signed bill will fail, and "We the people" will be left with an expensive, ineffective system that will do more harm then good in even the short term, unless you are an Insurance provider or major shareholder... Guess where I will be buying stock very soon!
The President is dropping his standards in the understanding it is easierto ammend then create, but the minority Republicans and the few "rogue" Democrats who do not agree, or are in the pockets of the lobbyists, have prevfented this already, how does he think that anything will be different witn a smaller, if at all, majority in 2010?
Anything that he did not lay out in his address to the joint congressional session that is not in the bill on his desk he should veto, he should not accept a chicken when you need a sheep!
By allowing this bill in any form other then the way he envisaged it passed, he will have shown a massive dislocation of his own moral standards and promises he made to the American people, and as a population, the people do not like that.
All those people who beleived in his change and his want to help them will NOT vote for him OR any Democrat in an election if they feel used or slighted whic his exactly the way this plan feels right now, the best way to describe it is the feeling of being used.
Of course this could bea bluff, but since the finance committee has already screwed up this bill to epic propotions, imagine what 450 other people will make of it, in the end it may work out that we are all forced to pay 90% of our income for a doctors visit every 2 years, and all drugs are out of pocket!
The President did not come into office with a favourable hand of cards, bad economy a war, bad debt, but, he is showing that even on those things that he did promise he is not delivering as promised, and people have a long memory, especially in the voting booth.
So far even if the economy totally recovered in the remaining 3 years, and we were in a budget surplus, and things were good, if the President does not deliver on healthcare it will not matter at all, and he will not get elected again.
So while I still feel that Obama was the right move and choice for President, i do think that we ware heading for a 1 term office, and who knows what will be next, I am pretty confident unless something good happens in years 2 -4 then we will have another Republican controlled White House AND congress, and we know what mess that generally leads to!
