Gallup = McCain +5 Rassmussen = McCain +1 http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epo...lls/index.html An average of +3, so if it holds for 2 more days you win.

"He blew it when personal feelings trumped his desire to assure a win."
Yeah, he'll be learning that lesson the hard way - politics is the last place on earth you want personal feelings interferring with the game plan. The only hard and fast rule is to win - any way, at any cost. Nobody remembers the losers. Look up the name Tilden (presidential candidate). It's an education. |

I don't think Hillary would have been a very good VP, but I do think there were much better choices than Biden.

However, any pick other than Hillary would have likely produced Palin. The more I dig, the more I discover that she was being pushed very secretly by the most powerful right wingers for a couple of years. Currently I am leaning toward believing that the GOP would have picked her even if hillary were on the ticket. One thing is for sure: The Republicans are far more effective at running campaigns than the Democrats without a doubt.

If I'm not mistaken, the constitution must be changed and everyone knows all the relatively small states will never give up their advantage by voting to ratify an amendment. Can you see a super majority voting for that huge change? Secondly, that would render a handful of states controlling all national elections. All media coverage would be relagated to New York, California, and a couple of others. Pro or con, we must admit that it just ain't gonna happen. The realistic possibility of a good change is Instant runoff voting. That would make a huge difference.

On the bright side, however, most of US who do not live and vote in Ohio, Penn, Mich, Virginia, Mo. or Colorado will not be bombarded for the next two months with Karl Rove inspired phone calls and advertisments.

Here's the glaring oddity with all this polling. The state by state electoral polling has remained stable over the same time period when the national polling is moving one way and another. They seem to be talking to different ends of the elephant.
