Jihad Watch Geert Wilders receives summons: a sledgehammer blow to the freedom of speech
A statement on the Wilders trial:

The 20th of January 2010 will be a crucial day for defending our freedom. This is the day when the political trial against Geert Wilders will start. Yesterday, Geert Wilders was summoned by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) on behalf of the Court of Justice of Amsterdam. The indictment reads: group insult of Muslims, incitement to hatred and discrimination against Muslims due to their religion and incitement to hatred and discrimination against non-western immigrants and / or Moroccans due to their race.
Geert Wilders: "On the 20th of January 2010, a political trial will start. I am being prosecuted for my political convictions. The freedom of speech is on the verge of collapsing. If a politician is not allowed to criticise an ideology anymore, this means that we are lost, and it will lead to the end of our freedom. However I remain combative: I am convinced that I will be acquitted."

In earlier stages, the PPS did not see any reason to prosecute Mr. Wilders.
Bram Moszkowicz, the lawyer on the case at hand, has submitted a notice of objection to the summons on the point of group insult on behalf of Geert Wilders. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands ruled that even though it is indeed punishable to insult a group of people, it is not punishable to insult a religion as such. Due to this the order of the Court of Amsterdam on this point is deemed incorrect.

The film starts with a black image with the text: "Warning: this film contains very shocking material". Then the sound of a match being lighted can be heard and a book with oriental looking symbols is opened up that looks like the Quran. On the first page a cartoon can be seen of Mohammed with a bomb in his turban. The sound of a burning fuse can be heard. A clock appears that starts counting down from 15:00.

A page of the book is turned over. Two open pages can be seen. On the page on the right the following text appears: "Quran, Surah 8, verse 60". Then on the page on the left appears: "Surah 8. Verse 60: Prepare for them whatever force and cavalry ye are able of gathering, to strike terror, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies". A voice can also be heard which (most likely) sings this text in the Arabic language. On the page on the right, next to the text, footage of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York (09/11/2001) are shown as well as of the attacks by Muslim extremists in Madrid and London with footage of the victims. This footage is alternated with footage of apparent imams who say: "What makes Allah happy? Allah is happy if non-Muslims are being killed" and "Destroy the unbelievers and polytheists, your (Allah's) enemies and the enemies of the religion. Allah, count them and kill them up to the very last of them. And do not spare a single one".

The page is turned. Now the page on the right states: "Quran, Surah 4, verse 56" and on the page on the left: "Surah 4, verse 56: Those who reject our signs, we shall soon cast into the fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, we shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise". Then footage follows of a man who yells: "If Allah permits us, oh nation of Mohammed, even the stone will say Oh Muslim. A Jew is hiding behind me, come and cut off his head. And we shall cut off his head! By Allah, we shall cut it off! Oh Jews! Allah Akbar! (Allah is Great!). Jihad for the sake of Allah! Jihad for the sake of Allah! Victory to Allah! Allah Akbar! (Allah is Great!)".

Then footage is shown of a young girl wearing a headscarf who is asked by a person off-screen who the Jews are. The little girl answers: "They are apes and pigs". The voice says: "Are they apes and pigs? Says who?" The little girl says: "Allah". The voice asks: "Where did he say this?" The little girl answers: "In the Quran". The following footage shows a mass of people who are dragging corpses behind them. The following footage again shows images of the attacks in London showing, among other things, an exploded red double-decker bus. Then footage follows of apparently an imam who calls outs: "The Jews are Jews. They are the ones who must be butchered and killed". These stills are intertwined with stills of Muslims (as follows from the headscarves and facial covering worn by one of the female persons) who show texts on signs: "Be prepared for the real Holocaust" and "God bless Hitler". Then footage of a group of people in uniform who are lined up follows, apparently fighters who are standing with extended right arm (apparently bringing the Hitler salute).

A page is turned. On the new page the following text appears: "Quran, Surah 47, verse 4" and then: "Surah 47, verse 4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers in fight, smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly on them". A voice can also be heard which (probably) presents this text in the Arabic language. Then a newspaper article is shown of the murder of Theo van Gogh. A fragment of an interview with Theo van Gogh can be heard where he says, among other things: "I do not think that bullet will come for me!". A picture of a male person appears who looks like Mohammed B. who has been convicted of the murder of Theo van Gogh. On screen appears: Mohammed B. Immediately thereafter an audio fragment in which the voice of Mohammed B. can be heard who says: "If I had the opportunity, if I would be free, and I had the opportunity to do it again, what I did on 2 November, I would have done exactly the same". Footage appears of people who yell: "Learn from Theo van Gogh. Learn from the examples you can see! Because you pay with your blood!" and also footage of people with bloody knives. A newspaper article is shown with the header: "Hirsi Ali and Wilders into hiding. Death list. Targets in letter of Mohammed B.". A fragment can also be seen of, as can be seen on screen, a Saudi TV station, Iqra TV, where a person says: "Houses and young men must be sacrificed, throats must be cut and skulls must be crushed. This is the road to victory". Stills are shown of people wearing balaclavas and holding firearms. In between them they hold a man who is apparently their prisoner. The person wearing a balaclava in the middle reads a statement out loud. Then the masked men move to cut off the head of the prisoner. The beheading itself can (barely) not be seen. Yet the audio of the fragment remains audible. Sounds can be heard that apparently point to the beheading. After a few seconds the footage returns and one of the masked men can be seen holding the cut-off head of the prisoner up.

A page is turned again. On the new page can be read: "Quran, Surah 4, verse 89" and then: "Surah 4, verse 89: They but wish that ye should reject faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing as they, so take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah. But if they turn renegades, seize them and kill them wherever ye find them, and take no friends or helpers from their ranks". A voice can also be heard which (probably) presents the text in the Arabic language. The text is followed by footage of Arabic looking people who state the following: "The Islam is a sacred religion. The best religion there is. If somebody converts to Christianity he deserves the death penalty". Another person says: "The Islam is superior compared to the Jews, the Christians, the Buddhists and the Hindus. The only law recognised by Allah is the Islam. And he who pursues anything other but the Islam shall never be accepted". The following newspaper headlines appear on screen: "Former Muslim Jami molested", "Islamic witch hunt again threatens", "Death to Rushdie" and "Letter on body Theo van Gogh disclosed. Hirsi Ali also receiving death threats".

The page is turned. It says: "Quran, Surah 8, verse 39" and then: "Surah 8, verse 39: Fight them until there is no dissension, and the religion is entirely Allah's". Moreover, a voice can be heard which (probably) presents this text in the Arabic language. An Ayatollah appears who says: "The Islam is a religion that wants to control the world. It did so before and shall eventually do so again". Followed by President Ahmadinejad who says: "The message of the Revolution is global, and is not restricted to a specific place or time. Have no doubt... Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world".

Then a number of apparently Arabic men appears on screen that make the following statements:

"We have ruled the world before. And Allah willing the day shall come that we will again rule the whole world. The day shall come that we will rule over America! The day shall come that we will rule over Great Britain and the whole world!".

"Allah ordered us to spread this religion all over the world".

"Thou shall take over the United States! Thou shall take over the United Kingdom! Thou shall take over Europe! Thou shall conquer them all. Thou shall be victorious! Thou shall take over Egypt. We have faith in Allah!".

Then apparently Arabic people with signs are shown. The following texts can be read: "Islam will dominate the world" and "Freedom go to hell".

Then the following text appears: "The Netherlands is under the spell of the Islam". Stills are shown of mosques that are most likely situated in the Netherlands. A voice can also be heard which says: "These mosques are all part of the Dutch government system". Footage is shown of a woman dressed in a burka combined with the newspaper header "Government: no burka prohibition" as also with satellite dishes and apartment buildings. Graphs are shown of the increase of the number of Muslims in the Netherlands in the course of the years. In the graphs the years 1909, 1960, 1990 and 2004 are shown with, respectively, the following numbers: 54, 1399, 458,000 and 944,000. Next to these graphs the number of Muslims in Europe in 2007 appears. The graph increases up to 54,000,000 and continues beyond the top of the screen. In the background stills can be seen of women with headscarves, satellite dishes and Dutch police officers in uniform taking off their shoes when they apparently enter a mosque. An apparent Muslim says: "If my sister or my mother has sex with another person I will also kill them". The interviewer asks: "Then you commit blood vengeance!" The man answers: "Absolutely". Another apparent Muslim says: "For example, in the Netherlands you can be adulterous or gay. But I do not wish to be part of that because the Islam considers that to be a crime". A still appears of a postcard with the text: "Greetings from the Netherlands" where you can only see mosques. Then a preach can be heard, on screen the following appears: "Said in Dutch mosques": "They must renounce political parties and worldly bodies of thought like liberalism, democracy, socialism and everything that smells of it and originates from the human brain" and (according to the text on screen pronounced in the El Tawheed mosque): "If a married man, by the grace of Allah, commits adultery, or a married woman commits adultery, she will be stoned".

On screen the following question is shown: "The Netherlands in the future!?". Stills are shown of apparently homosexual men (on screen it reads: "Gays") who are hanged, children smothered in blood (on screen it reads: "Children"), stills of a woman with a bloody knife in her hand with a child smothered in blood on her lap, a woman (on screen it reads: "Women") with a naked lower torso tied down to a bed and then a lot of blood (she is apparently being circumcised), a chopped off head of apparently a Muslim woman (she wears a headscarf), a woman dressed in a burka at a noose and a veiled woman who is shot through her head. These scenes are concluded with a large number of newspaper headlines. An enumeration of the headlines is provided below:

Then a hand can be seen that takes up a page of the Quran. The screen then turns black and the sound of paper being torn can be heard. On screen the text appears: "The sound you just heard was a page from the telephone directory. Because it is not up to me but up to the Muslims themselves to tear the vindictive verses from the Quran. Muslims want you to give room to the Islam, but the Islam does not offer room to you.

The government wants you to respect the Islam, yet the Islam has no respect at all for you. The Islam wants to control, subdue and is out for the destruction of our Western civilisation. In 1945 Nazism was beaten in Europe. In 1989 communism was beaten in Europe. Now the Islamic ideology must be beaten. Stop the Islamisation. Defend our freedom".

The film again concludes with the image of the cartoon of Mohammed with the turban. It can be seen that the fuse in his turban is almost near the end. A ticking clock can be heard. The clock appears on screen and counts down from 00:03 to zero. A flash of lightning can be seen and a bolt of lightning can be heard. Then the Quran is closed, the word "Fitna" is shown which flows into the word "Fin" and then the credits of the film are shown.

On the first page a cartoon can be seen of Mohammed with a bomb in his turban. The sound of a burning fuse can be heard. A clock appears that starts counting down from 15:00.

A page of the book is turned over. Two open pages can be seen. On the page on the right the following text appears: "Quran, Surah 8, verse 60". Then on the page on the left appears: "Surah 8. Verse 60: Prepare for them whatever force and cavalry ye are able of gathering, to strike terror, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies". A voice can also be heard which (most likely) sings this text in the Arabic language. On the page on the right, next to the text, footage of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York (09/11/2001) are shown as well as of the attacks by Muslim extremists in Madrid and London with footage of the victims. This footage is alternated with footage of apparent imams who say: "What makes Allah happy? Allah is happy if non-Muslims are being killed" and "Destroy the unbelievers and polytheists, your (Allah's) enemies and the enemies of the religion. Allah, count them and kill them up to the very last of them. And do not spare a single one".

The page is turned. Now the page on the right states: "Quran, Surah 4, verse 56" and on the page on the left: "Surah 4, verse 56: Those who reject our signs, we shall soon cast into the fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, we shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise". Then footage follows of a man who yells: "If Allah permits us, oh nation of Mohammed, even the stone will say Oh Muslim. A Jew is hiding behind me, come and cut off his head. Then footage is shown of a young girl wearing a headscarf who is asked by a person off-screen who the Jews are. The little girl answers: "They are apes and pigs". The voice says: "Are they apes and pigs? Says who?" The little girl says: "Allah". The voice asks: "Where did he say this?" The little girl answers: "In the Quran". The following footage shows a mass of people who are dragging corpses behind them. The following footage again shows images of the attacks in London showing, among other things, an exploded red double-decker bus. Then footage follows of apparently an imam who calls outs: "The Jews are Jews. They are the ones who must be butchered and killed". These stills are intertwined with stills of Muslims (as follows from the headscarves and facial covering worn by one of the female persons) who show texts on signs: "Be prepared for the real Holocaust" and "God bless Hitler". Then footage of a group of people in uniform who are lined up follows, apparently fighters who are standing with extended right arm (apparently bringing the Hitler salute).

A page is turned. On the new page the following text appears: "Quran, Surah 47, verse 4" and then: "Surah 47, verse 4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers in fight, smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly on them". A voice can also be heard which (probably) presents this text in the Arabic language. Then a newspaper article is shown of the murder of Theo van Gogh. A fragment of an interview with Theo van Gogh can be heard where he says, among other things: "I do not think that bullet will come for me!". A picture of a male person appears who looks like Mohammed B. who has been convicted of the murder of Theo van Gogh. On screen appears: Mohammed B. Immediately thereafter an audio fragment in which the voice of Mohammed B. can be heard who says: "If I had the opportunity, if I would be free, and I had the opportunity to do it again, what I did on 2 November, I would have done exactly the same". Footage appears of people who yell: "Learn from Theo van Gogh. Learn from the examples you can see! Because you pay with your blood!" and also footage of people with bloody knives. A newspaper article is shown with the header: "Hirsi Ali and Wilders into hiding. Death list. Targets in letter of Mohammed B." A fragment can also be seen of, as can be seen on screen, a Saudi TV station, Iqra TV, where a person says: "Houses and young men must be sacrificed, throats must be cut and skulls must be crushed. This is the road to victory". Stills are shown of people wearing balaclavas and holding firearms. In between them they hold a man who is apparently their prisoner. The person wearing a balaclava in the middle reads a statement out loud. Then the masked men move to cut off the head of the prisoner. The beheading itself can (barely) not be seen. Yet the audio of the fragment remains audible. Sounds can be heard that apparently point to the beheading. After a few seconds the footage returns and one of the masked men can be seen holding the cut-off head of the prisoner up.

A page is turned again. On the new page can be read: "Quran, Surah 4, verse 89" and then: "Surah 4, verse 89: They but wish that ye should reject faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing as they, so take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah. But if they turn renegades, seize them and kill them wherever ye find them, and take no friends or helpers from their ranks". A voice can also be heard which (probably) presents the text in the Arabic language. The text is followed by footage of Arabic looking people who state the following: "The Islam is a sacred religion. The best religion there is. If somebody converts to Christianity he deserves the death penalty". Another person says: "The Islam is superior compared to the Jews, the Christians, the Buddhists and the Hindus. The only law recognised by Allah is the Islam. And he who pursues anything other but the Islam shall never be accepted". The following newspaper headlines appear on screen: "Former Muslim Jami molested", "Islamic witch hunt again threatens", "Death to Rushdie" and "Letter on body Theo van Gogh disclosed. Hirsi Ali also receiving death threats".

The page is turned. It says: "Quran, Surah 8, verse 39" and then: "Surah 8, verse 39: Fight them until there is no dissension, and the religion is entirely Allah's". Moreover, a voice can be heard which (probably) presents this text in the Arabic language. An Ayatollah appears who says: "The Islam is a religion that wants to control the world. It did so before and shall eventually do so again". Followed by President Ahmadinejad who says: "The message of the Revolution is global, and is not restricted to a specific place or time. Have no doubt... Allah willing, Islam will conquer what? It will conquer all the mountain tops of the world".

Then a number of apparently Arabic men appears on screen that make the following statements:

"We have ruled the world before. And Allah willing the day shall come that we will again rule the whole world. The day shall come that we will rule over America! The day shall come that we will rule over Great Britain and the whole world!".

"Allah ordered us to spread this religion all over the world".
"Thou shall take over the United States! Thou shall take over the United Kingdom! Thou shall take over Europe! Thou shall conquer them all. Thou shall be victorious! Thou shall take over Egypt. We have faith in Allah!".

Then apparently Arabic people with signs are shown. The following texts can be read: "Islam will dominate the world" and "Freedom go to hell".

Then the following text appears: "The Netherlands is under the spell of the Islam". Stills are shown of mosques that are most likely situated in the Netherlands. A voice can also be heard which says: "These mosques are all part of the Dutch government system". Footage is shown of a woman dressed in a burka combined with the newspaper header "Government: no burka prohibition" as also with satellite dishes and apartment buildings. Graphs are shown of the increase of the number of Muslims in the Netherlands in the course of the years. In the graphs the years 1909, 1960, 1990 and 2004 are shown with, respectively, the following numbers: 54, 1399, 458,000 an 944,000. Next to these graphs the number of Muslims in Europe in 2007 appears. The graph increases up to 54,000,000 and continues beyond the top of the screen. In the background stills can be seen of women with headscarves, satellite dishes and Dutch police officers in uniform taking off their shoes when they apparently enter a mosque. An apparent Muslim says: "If my sister or my mother has sex with another person I will also kill them". The interviewer asks: "Then you commit blood vengeance!" The man answers: "Absolutely". Another apparent Muslim says: "For example, in the Netherlands you can be adulterous or gay. But I do not wish to be part of that because the Islam considers that to be a crime". A still appears of a postcard with the text: "Greetings from the Netherlands" where you can only see mosques. Then a preach can be heard, on screen the following appears: "Said in Dutch mosques": "They must renounce political parties and worldly bodies of thought like liberalism, democracy, socialism and everything that smells of it and originates from the human brain" and (according to the text on screen pronounced in the El Tawheed mosque): "If a married man, by the grace of Allah, commits adultery, or a married woman commits adultery, she will be stoned".

On screen the following question is shown: "The Netherlands in the future!?". Stills are shown of apparently homosexual men (on screen it reads: "Gays") who are hanged, children smothered in blood (on screen it reads: "Children"), stills of a woman with a bloody knife in her hand with a child smothered in blood on her lap, a woman (on screen it reads: "Women") with a naked lower torso tied down to a bed and then a lot of blood (she is apparently being circumcised), a chopped off head of apparently a Muslim woman (she wears a headscarf), a woman dressed in a burka at a noose and a veiled woman who is shot through her head. Then a hand can be seen that takes up a page of the Quran. The screen then turns black and the sound of paper being torn can be heard. On screen the text appears: "The sound you just heard was a page from the telephone directory. Because it is not up to me but up to the Muslims themselves to tear the vindictive verses from the Quran. Muslims want you to give room to the Islam, but the Islam does not offer room to you.

The government wants you to respect the Islam, yet the Islam has no respect at all for you. The Islam wants to control, subdue and is out for the destruction of our Western civilisation. In 1945 Nazism was beaten in Europe. In 1989 communism was beaten in Europe. Now the Islamic ideology must be beaten. Stop the Islamisation. Defend our freedom".

The film again concludes with the image of the cartoon of Mohammed with the turban. It can be seen that the fuse in his turban is almost near the end. A ticking clock can be heard. The clock appears on screen and counts down from 00:03 to zero. A flash of lightning can be seen and a bolt of lightning can be heard. Then the Quran is closed, the word "Fitna" is shown which flows into the word "Fin" and then the credits of the film are shown.

Explanatory notes to the procedure

1. Presence at session
If you were younger than age 18 years at the time of the act with which you are charged you are required to appear at the session. In all other cases you are not required to appear. If the judge deems it absolutely necessary that you be present at the session, he can require you to appear. If you do not appear, the court ultimately can have the police bring you to court under duress. A lawyer can represent you at the court hearing. Oral authorisation is sufficient for this. You can also be represented at sessions of the sub-district court [kantonrechter] and/or the police court for economic offences [economische politierechter] by someone who is not a lawyer, unless you have been charged with a criminal offence. That person must hold a special written power of attorney. If only a monetary fine has been imposed, you can ask the public prosecutor to propose an out-of-court settlement. In this proposal, the public prosecutor will set the conditions you must satisfy to avoid criminal proceedings. If you pay the maximum of the monetary penalty within the time set, the public prosecutor cannot refuse your request for a proposal for an out-of-court settlement. If you fulfil the conditions stated in this proposed out-of-court settlement then this summons will lapse and you need not appear before the court. It may happen that the public prosecutor will offer you a proposed out-of-court settlement before your court date, or has already done so. You are not required to accept it. In such a case, however, the summons remains in force.
5. Objections
If you wish to file a notice of objection against this summons you must do so within eight days of the date of this summons and before the start of the court hearing. This does not apply to matters before the sub-district court. If you wish to file a notice of objection it is important that you state why you do not agree with this summons. You must submit your notice of objection, personally, to the Clerk of the Court. You lawyer or someone to whom you have given a special written power of attorney may also do this. 6. Requesting postponement of the session
You can ask the court for a postponement of the proceedings of your case, for example, if you cannot prepare adequately or if you cannot appear due to illness or a scheduled holiday. Request the postponement of the proceedings of your case as soon as possible after receiving the summons. You must do this in writing, stating your name, the date of the hearing, and the public prosecutor's office number in your letter along with why you want the postponement. If you have a receipt for the booking of a trip or a physician's certificate, include it. Send your request to the Clerk of the Court. The Court is not obliged to postpone the session. You must also enquire personally before the hearing date whether you have been given a postponement.
7. Witness and experts

The public prosecutor can call witnesses and experts to appear at the hearing. If any witnesses and experts have been called, this will be stated on the summons. You can also bring witnesses and experts to the hearing. It would be appreciated if you so notify the public prosecutor in advance. You will be responsible for any costs associated with this. You can also ask the public prosecutor to call witnesses and/or experts for you. Direct such a request in writing to the public prosecutor at least ten days before the court session. If the summons is sent to you later than fourteen days before the court session, then you are obliged to ask the public prosecutor to call witnesses and/or experts for you within four days after the date of the summons but no later than three days before the court session. You are to describe these witnesses and/or experts by the name, profession, and place of residence of the persons desired. The public prosecutor is not required to call for you the witnesses and experts you have requested. If you do not agree with the public prosecutor's decision, you can make this known to the judge at the session. It is no longer possible to have new witnesses and experts called after proceedings have been suspended.
9. Information about the judgment
If this summons has been served on your personally or if you, your authorised lawyer or your representative is present at the (further) session(s), the judgment of the Court becomes irrevocable after 14 days and you will not receive any notice of this. This will also be the case if there were special reasons by which you were able to know in advance the day of the session. You can obtain information about the judgment from the Clerk of the Court or from your lawyer. If you have made a motion for adjournment, you must inform yourself whether this has been honoured.
10. Possibility of appeal
If you do not agree with the decision of the court, you can appeal to a higher court within fourteen days.
How?
You can do so by going to the Clerk of the Court and filling in a form that you must sign, or by asking your lawyer to lodge an appeal, or by sending a letter to the Clerk of the Court.
Note carefully: you must state clearly in this letter that you grant the Clerk the authorisation to lodge an appeal on your behalf and that you authorise the Clerk of the Court on your behalf to receive the notice of the appeal hearing. The Clerk will then forward this notice to the address you have provided.
Your appeal will not always be taken up!
If you have been sentenced only to pay a monetary penalty of up to €500 and if it concerned a charge or charges for which the maximum punishment was four years imprisonment, the President of the Court of Appeal could decide not to have the higher court take up your case again. It is therefore important that you clearly inform the President in a letter (the notice of appeal) why you want to submit your case to a higher court. The Clerk must receive this letter within fourteen days after you have lodged your appeal. You will receive notice as to whether your appeal will be taken up or not. If the case is taken up you will receive a summons to appear before a session of the Court of Appeal. Should the case not be taken up, the judgment that you had appealed becomes irrevocable. A criminal complaint is being filed against Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff for "hate speech" under Austrian law, essentially the same thing that Susanne Winter was convicted of early this year.

Elisabeth gave a presentation about Islam at an FPÖ-organized seminar, and said some of the usual things that anti-jihad advocates say when they talk about Islam. A left-wing magazine, which had planted someone in the audience, caused charges to be brought against her at the same time as they publicized it in their magazine.

Elisabeth held the controversial Islam Seminar at the FPÖ-political academy. Charges of defamation of a religious group have been filed against the daughter of a diplomat. This is her only interview in which she explains her views.

Mrs. Sabaditsch-Wolff, are you afraid of Muslims?

No, I am afraid of political Islam, which is massively gaining influence in Europe. That is what I am against.

What is your goal?

I want to preserve Europe and its democratic and secular values.

What bothers you about the Islamic way of life?

Islamic doctrine discriminates against women and non-Muslims. Islamic law, or shariah, cannot be reconciled with democratic principles and universal human rights.

Do you see the need for that?

There are powerful groups who are working towards the Islamization of Europe. That is a fact. What can we gain from closing our eyes and ignoring this? Even Libyan leader Muammar Ghadafi says: "There are signs that Allah will grant victory to Islam in Europe without swords, without guns, without conquest. We don't need terrorists, we don't need homicide bombers. The 50+ million Muslims [in Europe] will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades." A head of state confirms what our politicians deny. What else has to happen until we finally get it?

There are people who see the growth of Islam in Europe as an opportunity for a completely re-engineered pluralistic society.

The vision of a pluralistic society does not withstand a reality check. Show me one example where this has been a success. Wherever Muslims have been given the opportunity for self-organization they have established parallel societies. See Berlin-Kreuzberg, see Lyon. See also Great Britain, where parts of shariah have been implemented.

Do you really think that Austrian culture is endangered?

I see signs of an erosion of our way of life. In large cities massive changes are evident in the streets. There are discussions about a ban on teaching the Turkish sieges of Vienna; St. Nicholas is banned from visiting children in [public] kindergartens.

And you want to change that.

Yes, very much. But why is that so bad? In Bhutan, the king is applauded because he allows only a certain number of foreigners into the country. He prescribes a certain dress code and mandatory cultural events. Bhutan is a small country that wants to retain its cultural identity in a globalized world. Austria is also a small country with similar challenges. Why is the one country commended and the other berated?

According to NEWS, you defamed Islam. That is why NEWS has filed charges citing defamation of religion. Your reply?

One can report anyone to the authorities. I am not guilty of defamation. And even if some consider my words harsh, I definitely did not make them in a public forum since the seminars were held before a group of people who registered beforehand.

You are accused of making the following statements, among others: "Muslims rape children because of their religion", or "Mohammed enjoyed contact with children." Why the polemics?

This is a clever strategy. You and all the others who are now crying wolf are locked in a choice of words. As a result you are able to maneuver yourselves away from the main point. It is a fact that Mohammed married a six-year-old at the age of 56. To this day men in Islamic countries view this as legitimizing marriage to a minor, thereby causing rape and life-long trauma. This is the problem we need to address, and not how circumscribe this bitter reality.

Are you afraid that these customs will become part of Europe?

There are groups who have this goal. In every Islamic system you find that human rights of young girls are in grave danger. Look at Saudi Arabia. Look at the former socialist South Yemen. When Khomeini came to power he lowered the minimum age for girls to get married to nine years.

You are being accused of Islamophobia. Does this bother you?

A phobia is an irrational fear. My worries are not irrational, but justified. One of these days our politicians will have to recognize this fact. People like me are not right-wing xenophobes.

But what are you?

We are people defending the principles of freedom and equality in a secular society. I criticize political Islam and its political manifestations. No democratic country can take this right away from anyone.

Why do critics of Islam nearly always use polemics?

And what [if not polemics] did the article in NEWS use? There are comments about my body, there is ridicule about how I eat. Sexist attacks below the belt against women making unpopular statements are a manifestation of a male-dominated system. There are many critics of Islam. However, it's always women like Brigitte Bardot or Oriana Fallaci who are attacked below the belt.

Leading politicians have sharply criticized your seminars. Are they all members of a male-dominated system?

These politicians do not know the contents of my seminars. All they know are out-of-context quotes from an article in a glossy magazine. I also find the reaction of these politicians strange. They get away with much worse.

For instance?

SPÖ secretary general Laura Rudas, who calls for a public ban of the headscarf. I would not do something like that.

On the other hand, you are being compared to Susanne Winter (FPÖ). She was convicted of defamation because she accused the prophet Mohammed of pedophilia.

I do not want to be compared to Susanne Winter. There are no similarities between us. She is an active politician, she acts in a public forum. I do not.

You hold your seminars for the FPÖ-Political Academy.

But I am not politically active. I am also not a member of FPÖ. What I do is offer seminars on the topic of Islam and I can be booked. The FPÖ academy did just that. I do not want to comment on Susanne Winter's statements. But in my opinion she does not know much about Islam.

In what way are you qualified to hold these seminars?

I have an M.A. in Diplomatic and Strategic Studies. I spent part of my childhood in Islamic countries, worked and lived there. I have personally experienced life in Islamic societies and I see evidence of a trend towards the Islamization of Europe.

How do you view yourself?

I am a mother and a feminist. I want my daughter and my niece to grow up in freedom and dignity. I want the same for all Austrian citizens, and that includes Austrian Muslims.

In your seminar you do not distinguish between Muslims and Islamists.

Oh yes, I do. I do that because I know how much Muslims worldwide are suffering under the Islamic yoke. I say that in all my seminars, only NEWS did not bother to quote that. Why do think so many Muslims try to escape from Islamic countries like Iran and Afghanistan? Because life there is unbearable.

So you want to liberate Muslims from Islam?

Muslims have to liberate themselves; from this static and tenacious Islam that is hellbent on following norms from the seventh century. The result is that wherever there are Islamic societies there is no progress, but steps backwards, especially in the realm of human rights and democracy.

But isn't the referendum on the minaret ban in Switzerland also a step backwards?

The result of the referendum is the best proof that politicians should finally take the Islamization of Europe seriously.

What do you think about the reaction from the Islamic world regarding the referendum?

The Islamic world leads in discrimination against religious minorities. Christians are persecuted and discriminated against in all Islamic countries. You have to remember that the Christian culture is not one that immigrated or is foreign; it is indigenous. There is a complete ban on building churches in Turkey. And now Erdogan speaks of discrimination against Muslims in Switzerland? Where are Muslims being discriminated against in Switzerland? The European elite allows the Islamic countries to walk all over themselves while bowing down to them.

Are you in favor of a ban on minarets in Austria?

I will not answer that. Instead, I will quote the now so agitated Turkish prime minister who once said, "The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers."

Do you feel misunderstood?

Above all, I believe that my rights are being curtailed. Currently I do not notice that I have freedom of speech or opinion.

Haven't you yourself strained this right?

No, I don't believe I did. Above all, I did not speak publicly. What is all the commotion about?

But now it has become public.

I only say out loud what others are thinking. But these concerns are not taken seriously.

Are you against a dialogue with the Islamic world?

I am against a dialogue with political Islam. I am, however, in favor of a broad discussion about human rights and personal freedoms.

You criticize Islam as discriminating. What do mean by that?

Just one example: In Islam non-Muslims are called kuffar, non-believers. These infidels are all defamed and not considered equal. This is offensive. Where are the protests?

What are your negative experiences in Islamic countries?

People in these countries are continuously restricted. This leads to aggressions and reporting people to the authorities and other absurd situations. For example, a (Coptic) member of the Austrian embassy in Kuwait was verbally abused at the post office because he was mailing Christmas letters. It was Ramadan and he must not eat or drink publicly. He said, surprised, "But I am not eating!" "Oh yes, you are. You are licking off the adhesive part of the stamp." This is daily routine in an Islamic society.

Can you really use a single occurrence as an example?

I can tell you hundreds of similar single occurrences. This story is not a single case, but a social program.

Will you continue with your seminars?

Yes. There are requests coming in from all over Austria. I will continue to defend my right to freedom of speech. I will not be gagged.

Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, 38, is the daughter of a retired diplomat. She spent parts of her childhood during the Khomeini Revolution in Iran. She later spent time in Iraq and Kuwait. In 1990, she and other Austrians were held hostage during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. She was employed at the Austrian embassies in Kuwait and Libya. From 1995-7 she was a member of the then-vice-chancellor, Wolfgang Schüssel. Sabaditsch-Wolff represents the Citizens' Movement Pax Europa on an international level.

The Bible says obedience to government is the greatest virtue. We are to obey the local government. I always say please and thank-you. People have been shocked by my polite and courteous manner, as if it is a strange thing that doesn't exist. We should treat others with respect. I realize there are short-comings in their behavior even as I give them the respect they are due.

I am also blunt in my assessment about what is wrong in their behaviors and beliefs. I quite often tell them they are acting more like a devil than a saint.

Many Islamists believe non-Muslim rulers are pigs and dogs. These Islamists believe they can engage in anarchy, lawlessness and murder to replace the non-Muslim government with the supposedly perfect and righteous Islamic government ruled by Sharia law.

The Islamists can't figure out that being murderers, anarchists and destroyers for Allah's cause is a bad thing.

Islamists believe in drawing out the sword. Jesus believed in putting the sword away.

Like you, I was brought up to be polite and I still hold doors open for people, say "please", "thank you" and "you're welcome". Nothing to do with the Bible in my case.

Those (saints) who obey and trust the Christ (Messiah, King, Lord, Master) are being called to rule in that Government with Christ. Obeying the Law is the only Way to peace and life.

The church I was brought up it sees it differently. Lutherans regard as pivotal the verse that says "By grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works...."

Obeying the law is a consequence of being in a state of grace. It is not remotely possible except through grace. It is not the way to anything.

The Lutheran Bonhoffer, of course, is now regarded as the closest thing these protestants have to a saint, being martyred for defying the law of Nazi Germany. I trust you aren't going to suggest he was all wrong.

Lutherans would indeed see you as a heritic, were they given to being so judgemental these days....

So I take it you get to pick and choose which government you wish to obey? Otherwise it's pretty hard to be a christian in certian arabic countries then!

Or should I already know that the US government is the only one sanctioned by God himself?

The Bouyeri Defense (for Geert Wilders Trial)

Mohammed Bouyeri is a Dutch-born Muslim of Moroccan descent who murdered Theo Van Gogh on the streets of Amsterdam just over five years ago.

Bouyeri, as you may recall, was less than repentant about his crime after he was caught and charged, and was unabashed in his insistence that he did it for the sake of Islam. Here are some quotes from the defendant at his trial:


“I don’t feel your pain. I don’t have any sympathy for you. I can’t feel for you because I think you’re a non-believer.”

“I did what I did purely out of my beliefs. I want you to know that I acted out of conviction and not that I took his life because he was Dutch or because I was Moroccan and felt insulted.”

“If I ever get free, I would do it again.”

“I shot to kill and be killed. You cannot understand.”

Mohammed Bouyeri shot Van Gogh eight times.

After shooting the victim and nearly decapitating him, Bouyeri used a knife to impale five pages of text on the chest of the corpse. One of the pages contained verse written by the killer himself, entitled “Drenched in Blood”:

But this certainly does not end the story.

This same Mohammed Bouyeri — unrepentant, forthright in his insistence that it is a moral duty for Muslims to kill infidels — will be called by Geert Wilders as a defense witness when he goes on trial next month for defaming Islam.

As our expatriate Dutch correspondent H. Numan points out, this is a brilliant move on Wilders’ part — the Dutch government is hardly likely to welcome additional polemics from Mohammed Bouyeri, which can only remind the Dutch people of why Mr. Wilders is right about the Islamic danger.

Dear Baron,

On the 20th of next month Geert Wilders will have to defend himself in (a kangaroo) court. Today Wilders came up with a brilliant defense: he’ll have the murderer of Theo van Gogh appear as witness.

Mohammed Bouyeri must appear if summoned as a witness. If necessary he can be transported under force to the (kangaroo) courtroom. By law he is required to answer questions, unless those questions would incriminate him. To remain silent is punishable by law.

“I doubt if this will impress him very much (he is doing life — and life in Holland means life), however, I don’t think it unlikely he wants to talk,” according Mr. Moszkowicz, Wilders’ defense counsel.

He is just one of the many witnesses the defense will call to the stand. “He is living evidence that Islam is the inspiration for violence,” according to Wilders.

Criminalizing Criticism of Islam

For the crime of “insulting Islam”, Geert Wilders will go on trial in Amsterdam next month, exactly one year after the inauguration of President Barack Hussein Obama.

As most readers know by now, Mr. Wilders is being prosecuted for making statements that are factually true, and for voicing opinions about Islam which are unremarkable by the standards of this blog, and which are based on the observable behavior of violent and intolerant Muslims all over the world.

The trial is a judicial farce, a shameless attempt to put an end to the political career of Geert Wilders. He is inconveniently popular with the voters of the Netherlands, so the elite governing class has decided to run him out of office by non-electoral means.

Our Flemish correspondent VH has translated a couple of articles about the upcoming trial. First, from the PVV website, news of a demonstration planned for the day the trial begins:

Demonstrate against the political process used against Geert Wilders

January 20, 2010 will be a crucial day in the defense of our freedom. That day the political process against Geert Wilders will begin. Commissioned by the Amsterdam Court, the Public Ministry has summoned Geert Wilders. The indictment reads: Insulting Muslims as a group, inciting hatred and discrimination against Muslims because of their religion, and inciting hatred and discrimination against non-western immigrants and/or Moroccans because of their race. This even though the earlier prosecutor saw no cause in the evidence for the prosecution to proceed.

Are you also against the political process against Geert Wilders, and do you want to defend freedom of expression? Come to Amsterdam to demonstrate! On January 20 at 9:00 in the District Court in Amsterdam.

Geert Wilders: “On January 20 a political court case will begin. I am being persecuted for my political convictions. Freedom of expression is balancing on the edge of a cliff. If a politician can not criticize an ideology any longer, there is no end to it, that will mean the end of our freedom. But I will remain combative: I am convinced that I will be acquitted “.
